Use and Care Instructions for SKK Products

Notes on cleaning

Please clean all SKK products immediately after each use with hot water and some dish soap.

Important notes for use of ceramic and induction cooktops

Always make sure the bottom of your pots and pans are clean BEFORE placing them on your ceramic or induction cooktop. Likewise, make sure the surface of your ceramic or induction cooktop is clean BEFORE you begin cooking. These cooking zones are subject to low production tolerances. Due to this, as well as by slight contamination between the cooking zone and the pan's floor (by salt, sugar, etc.), scratches can occur on the aluminum floor or on the ceramic or induction cooking surface when the pans are moved. Neither SKK nor The Serious Chef assume liability for any such related damages (to the pots and pans or to the cooktop).

How do I maintain my SKK handcast aluminum cookware?

Maintaining SKK Series products 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11: In most cases, you will only need hot water, a soft rinse brush and some detergent. This is sufficient to keep everything hygienically clean. Then you should rub your cooking utensils briefly with some cooking oil. Remove very stubborn dirt with a little detergent and a soft nylon sponge or plastic scouring pad. Never ever use steel wool. This will damage your cookware and void your warranty. We recommend that you do not clean your hand cast cookware in the dishwasher, because the detergents used in modern appliances are becoming more and more abrasive, resulting in a drying out of the surface sealing during cleaning in the dishwasher. The thing same happens when rinsing plates with gold trim in a dishwasher. Over time, the surface seal may darken. This is a normal process, which does not affect the usability properties in any way. You should not attempt to remove this discoloration. Your SKK cast cookware is intended for cooking, and not for storing food. Therefore, it should be cleaned immediately after every use. Let's face it, SKK cookware represents a substantial investment. Treat it with care and it will last a lifetime.

How do I maintain my SKK stainless steel cookware?

Since the Tri-Play stainless steel base of this cookware is ultra hard and non-porous, a small amount of fat or oil is more than enough for healthy cooking. The cookware can be cleaned quickly and easily with a little liquid dish soap and some warm water. SKK stainless steel products are fully dishwasher-safe. After the dishwasher cleaning cycle has completed, immediately remove your stainless steel cookware to avoid water stains that can be caused by condensed water vapor. To remove these water stains, you only need hot water and some dish soap. In the case of coarse or dehumidified soiling, soak the residue in hot water for a few minutes and then restore the luster with water and detergent. If blunt stains or discoloration occur over the course of time, you can simply rub them off with half a lemon. Scratching sponges, steel wool or abrasive detergents should NEVER be used as these can roughen the surface. Salt only on your food and avoid the direct contact of salt with the pan's floor. Before adding salt, vinegar or other dressings or spices, please ensure that the water in the pot is boiling. This helps avoid corrosion or oxidation of the material. Corrosion-induced discolorations on the surface are unavoidable, but do not affect the functionality and quality of your cookware in any way. Please remember: Even stainless steel can rust if it comes into contact with another material which can rust. For example: another item in your dishwasher. Stainless steel can also rust in harsh industrial applications. The detergents used in commercial dishwashers are often very abrasive and can attack the stainless steel surface.
